Bloomington—Indiana University’s Traditional Arts Indiana has been approved for a $25,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support their Elder Music Recording Project, an initiative that will record older musicians and create listening guides that support the wellbeing of older adults.
“I am truly excited that we have received this funding” said TAI Director Jon Kay. “It continues not just our work celebrating Indiana’s diverse community traditions, but also it will create an important resource for older adults and their caregivers in Indiana.”
Traditional Arts Indiana’s project is among 1,073 projects across America totaling nearly $25 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2021 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support this project from Indiana University’s Traditional Arts Indiana,” said Arts Endowment Acting Chairman Ann Elders. “Traditional Arts Indiana is among the arts organizations across the country that have demonstrated creativity, excellence, and resilience during this very challenging year.”
Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI) is a statewide folk arts program based in IU’s Gayle Karch Cook Center for Public Arts & Humanities. The Cook Center is a multidisciplinary hub for research and creative activity on the IU Bloomington campus, which seeks to make transformative experiences in the arts and humanities accessible to all people on campus, in the city of Bloomington, and throughout Indiana.
